10 Reasons to Own Windows Vista!
1. Kewl Graphic User Interface (GUI)
Windows Vista introduces the new AERO interface which comes with transparent animated win dows that swoosh into place, subtle and elegant colors, a new Start menu. There is also a sidebar included which u can put widgets on it such as a calender, notes and a whole load of crap.
2. 3D Flip
Switching between applications in Win XP was never a bliss. We had to rely on the dumb ALT + TAB key to switch applications. Now with Windows Vista AERO interface, switching between applications is actually kewl. With just a press of the Windows Key + TAB on your keyboard, you will see many thumbnail size images of your applications running and keep pressing the TAB key repeatedly to switch between applications. The best part of all, all of your application runs in real-time while switching. For an example, if your watching a movie and u decide to have a look at wats going on with ur other applications, ur movie will be still be playing while ur switch between applicaitons. This might be something new to Windows users, but Mac users, jus yawn when u see Windows Vista because Windows took ur idea...
3. DirectX 10 Support
I feel its a marketing strategy Microsoft came up to get gamers to upgrade their current version of Windows to Windows Vista. They made it in such a way that DirectX 10 is onli compatible with Windows Vista. For non-gamers like u and me it does not matter, but DirectX 10 has taken the graphic randering to the next level. DirectX 10 will do more to reduce CPU utilization, increase graphic card power and flexibility. I cant say much bout DirectX 10 because im not really a gamer so i dun really noe.
4. New Search Utility
Sick of the old lame search process on Windows XP?? You dun have to worry bout it anymore... its history. Windows Vista comes with an improve search feature. All u have to do is type wat u want to search and it will search as u type.. kewl heh?? thats not all. There is a search feature included in every folder and it searches as u type too. This really makes things easy if u are a persons who has millions of words documents and urgently need to find one particular document.
5. Ready Boost
Need For Speed?? Then get ready to be boosted by ReadyBoost. ReadyBoost is one of the most coolest feature in Windows Vista. This feature allows u to boost ur computers performance at anytime without adding additional RAM. The crazy part bout it?? it uses flash drives or memory to boost performance... that is super cool.. it also allows you to decide how much of memory from your device that u are willing to dedicate to use ReadyBoost. Let say as one particular point you are downloading something using LimeWire and since its downloading at a slow rate (as usual.. we r talking bout Streamyx) u decide to play a game.. in the middle of the game u notice a slight lag while ur playing your game.. no worries, just plug in a 1Gb or more thumb drive and speed up your preformance.. The even better part??? Thumb drive cost cheaper than RAM's.
6. Enhanced Security!
Finally! Bigshot Microsoft decided to do something about Windows security. When Windows XP came out in the market about 5 years back, people thought Windows Firewall was "WOW". But when u actually use it, it sux big time... The Windows Vista Firewall has been fortified with better features that can actually block viruses and spywares. Previously with Windows XP, the firewall was so bad it doesnt make a difference if u even had a firewall if u were planning to use the Windows Firewall. All i can say bout the Windows Firewall then was it was just there for the name sake. Microsoft took a bigger leap when they introduced Windows Defender in Windows Vista. Windows Defender acts as an anti-virus and also an anti-spyware. This is not a name sake thing. It is actually good. It actually managed to detect a few viruses on my cd the other day.. Cheers to Microsoft for the achievement.
7. Parental Control
Well.. Well... Well... Look wat we have here.. Parental Control!! Half of u who are reading this might think wat the hack do we need it for?? We dun have kids! But i do think that u have annoying siblings or even room-mates or wat so ever tha loves to use ur PC. This is where the Parental Control feature kicks in. Lets say u have an annoying brother who hogs on ur PC and when u tell him he onli gets an hour of usage and after using it for an hour we starts fighting with u demanding for more time. In Windows XP, there us nothing u can do bout it other than to fight back. In Windows Vista, no violence required. U can change ur Parental Control settings so that ur brother can onli use the PC for an hour, after that the Windows Vista will be locked and will require a password to open. U can also set the protection level in ur Parental Control settings that blocks your brother from visiting unwanted website. Before this, we had to buy 3rd party softwares to do the same task.
8. Cool Performance Tools!
If u are the type of person that tries to get every single drop of performance your pc can give u, then Windows Vista is for you. Probably the best of them all is the Reliability and Performance Monitor. It keeps tabs on every aspect of your PC in exquisite detail, including the CPU, hard disk, network usage, and RAM use, and it includes plenty of charts, reports, and logs for your inner geek. The Reliability Monitor module is particularly noteworthy, as it charts the reliability of your PC over time and shows you every single problem or failure in a calendar format.

9. Nifty Software Gadgets
Here comes the new Sidebar feature in Windows Vista. The basic purpose of the sidebar is to put various gadgets on it such as u can put a calender, sticky notes, picture slidshow and many more. Those are a few things that already comes with ur windowU can get many more from the internet that can do things u wont imagine of. The sidebar has the autohide feature and kewl transperancy GUI. It really looks cool, but then again, nothing new for MAC users!
10. Media Center is Back!
Get ready to be blown away with Windows Vista Media Center. Previously, Microsoft released Windows XP Media Center Edition after Wndows XP Professional. Luckly, Microsoft decided to include it in Windows Vista. Using Windows Media Center, u can view your photos in a cinematic slide show, browse your music collection by cover art, easily play DVDs, watch and record TV shows, download movies, and project your home videos—then pass the remote to let friends and family join in the fun! Windows Media Center in Windows Vista features some great advancements over previous versions, including an improved user interface with easier navigation and breakthrough media visualization. Windows Media Center also offers built-in support for archiving TV shows directly to video DVDs, faster overall performance, and an improved platform for content owners to deliver new online entertainment services and experiences.
